Spotify has announced partnerships with a number of major home audio system manufacturers, including Pioneer, Philips, and Denon, and Spotify Connect will be 'available soon' on iOS devices for. To listen to music directly on your computer, Spotify is all you need. But if you’re looking to stream Spotify to your stereo, Airfoil comes to the rescue. Setup is a snap, of course. Just launch Airfoil and set Spotify as the source at the top of Airfoil’s window, then transmit to your desired outputs to get audio flowing.
Set the source in Airfoil to the application you're using to listen to Spotify. I'm in the states so I don't have access to Spotify but from their website it looks like the app is Spotify Open? In other words the Airfoil source needs to be the Spotify application not Default System Input or other audio source. Applications appear above audio sources in the Airfoil source drop down menu. If no applications are listed select Other Application and use the resulting Open/Save dialog to navigate to your Spotify app.

Airfoil also has a simple video player built into it, which you need to keep up with the sound on your receiver. It features all the basic features to control video playback: play/pause, forward/back, scroll bar and volume, full screen mode button and receiver selector.
